Toshihiko Hosaka is a professional sand statue artist who has only two people in Japan. After graduating from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, he started his career as a sand statue artist and has 20 years of activity history this year. The winning work "Miyamoto Musashi" is a work that depicts Musashi who puts a sword at his side and is doing a squat with a dignified expression. The expressions of the wrinkles of Kimono and the expression of Musashi are delicately expressed, and the eyes filled with souls are very impressive. It is also very carefully built up to the details of the tatami's eyes and swords. In the first place, a sand image is a sculpture made with sand and water only, there is no core material etc. After sculpting, I will harden it by spraying a fixing agent on the surface to prevent the sand from collapsing due to rain, wind, drying and so on.
